National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) 36th Annual National Professional Development and Training Conference Youth Day Program 25 Jul 2008 “Today’s Thinker’s, Tomorrow’s Doers” The National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) actively supports the Sea Services in recruiting, retaining, and developing the careers of minority officers. The NNOA provides professional development and mentoring for its members. The NNOA continues to establish and maintain a positive image of the Sea Services in minority communities and educational institutions. Additionally, we motivate youth to achieve their fullest potential and we provide them with college scholarships. The Youth Day Program for this year’s National Naval Officers Association Professional Development and Training Conference is going to be a full day of outstanding events. We are working overtime to ensure this event is a success. This year’s theme is “Today’s Thinkers, Tomorrow’s Doers”. We will have structured activities, tours and educational workshops that will be presented by the Marine Corps, Coast Guard and the Navy. The workshop topics include “Goal Setting”; “Overcoming Teen Issues: Peer Pressure, Health & Infectious Diseases, and On the Right Side of the Law”; and “How to Prepare for College”. Guest Speakers include but are not limited to Vice Admiral Jeffrey Fowler, Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, and Mrs. Cherese Sullivan, the daughter of Rear Admiral (ret) Lillian Fishburne (the first African-American female to hold the position of Rear Admiral in the Navy). There will also be certificates and gift bags presented to each attendee. The date for the event is July 25, 2008 from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The age group for participation is 12 and up.
